Milwaukee native Dick Buchholz, leader of Dick and the Roadmasters, says he is still thrilled about the band's recent victory in the Cincinnati Blues Society's Blues Challenge 2003. "I knew the band was good" said Dick "and I hoped the judges and everyone else would like the tunes I wrote, but it's still a rush to hear your name called as the winner".

Dick, a professional musician since 1968, has been in the Cincinnati area since the late 80's after moving here from Atlanta. The Covington resident has been teaching and playing since closing his retail guitar shop in 1998. "I just wasn't making a living, but I was living at the store. Having more time has allowed me to focus on my playing and writing, and I really enjoy teaching and seeing young students, and those not so young, start to 'get it' and become players".

Dick is joined in the Roadmasters by Steve Barone of Ft Thomas, KY on guitar, Larry Bloomfield, originally from Montreal, Quebec and currently living in Cincinnati plays harmonica, John Hack from Dayton thumps the bass and Cincinnati's own "Shorty" Starr provides a solid beat on drums.
